One really easy way you can make your Christmas services more accessible is to give clear information about them all on your websites.
A timeline for each service will tell people what to expect at and it removes a lot of the unknowns and the anxiety surrounding that. This is especially helpful if you do ‘different’ style services over the festive season. Here’s an example:
24th Dec, 4pm Crib Service.
– On arrival to the church you will be welcomed by a member of our welcome team, handed a goodie bag and pointed in the direction of your seats. Should you have any questions about where to find facilities then the welcome team can help you.
– The service will likely start soon after 4pm and will be an interactive style service led from the from by our Vicar, Ben, and our Children’s Worker, Gemma.
– At various points throughout the service we will sing carols and also use items from the goodie bag you were given on arrival.
– Anything you need to know, do or say/sing will be clearly on the screens throughout the service.
– This service is informal and everything is invitational and not compulsory. There is no obligation to join in with different parts should you not feel comfortable.
– At the back of the main hall there is a box of fiddler toys and ear defenders available should you wish to borrow them. There is also a foyer space where you can still hear the service but have more space. You are welcome to use this as you need to.
– Do see below a couple of pictures from our Crib Service last year. Whilst this years will be different, hopefully the pictures help to give you a feel for the service style and the space we use.
