We often invite people to chat and socialise with us , maybe invite people into a quiet space and make it homely and welcoming with a cuppa and a short prayer or meditation and the some shared quiet. Shared silence can feel less scary than solitary silence once you get used to it. Make it clear in your invites what this is and stick to a short 10 minute max quiet moment with a chance to chat after for those who wish to stay. This can even be done online.
